LOS ANGELES- Air India (AI) wins global recognition as the ‘Most Improved Airline’ at the APEX Global EXPO held in Los Angeles (LAX). This honor, coupled with its Four-Star Global Airline rating, highlights the airline’s rapid progress in its ongoing transformation journey.
The recognition carries special weight as it is based on more than one million verified passenger votes across 600 airlines, with the process independently audited, ensuring full transparency and credibility.

Air India Wins APEX
Over the past 3 years, Air India has been implementing its Vihaan.AI transformation strategy to modernize every aspect of the airline.
A key step was placing one of the largest aircraft orders in aviation history, 570 aircraft, including narrow-body and wide-body jets, to expand its global network and strengthen connectivity.
Additionally, the airline invested USD 400 million to refurbish its existing fleet, upgrading cabin interiors, seating, and entertainment systems.
These initiatives not only improve comfort but also align Air India’s offerings with leading global carriers, addressing long-standing customer concerns about product consistency.
Enhancing passenger experience has been central to Air India’s reforms. The airline launched an award winning mobile app for seamless booking and travel management, redesigned cabin environments, and introduced gourmet inflight dining served with upgraded chinaware and glassware.
Premium bedding and new amenity kits were also rolled out, reflecting global service benchmarks.
These improvements have already reshaped customer perception, as evidenced by the APEX survey results, where Air India moved ahead of several regional and international competitors.
The airline’s recognition as a Four Star Global Airline further cements its position among the top-rated carriers.

Workforce and Leadership Recognition
Air India CEO & MD, Campbell Wilson, dedicated the award to frontline employees, acknowledging their pivotal role in driving the transformation.
He emphasized that while the recognition validates progress, sustained consistency remains the next major goal.
His message stressed that the airline aims not just to improve but to become a global benchmark.
This approach highlights how leadership, combined with employee commitment, can accelerate organizational change in a competitive industry.

Competitive Edge
Air India’s recognition comes at a time when global carriers such as Singapore Airlines (SQ), Emirates (EK), and Qatar Airways (QR) consistently rank among the best in passenger experience.
While Indian airlines have historically lagged in premium service rankings, Air India’s achievement marks a significant leap toward closing this gap.
With one of the world’s largest fleet expansion plans underway, Air India is positioning itself to compete with top-tier international carriers, particularly on long-haul routes where service quality is a key differentiator.

Looking Ahead
Beyond fleet and service upgrades, Air India continues to emphasize hospitality rooted in Indian culture.
This balance of modern aviation standards with traditional Indian warmth is expected to become its signature differentiator in global markets.
The airline’s long-term vision is clear: to transform into a world-class carrier that rivals the best, while offering passengers a distinct experience that blends efficiency with cultural identity.
