American Adds 6 New International Routes

American Airlines will launch new summer seasonal service to Budapest (BUD) and Prague (PRG) from Philadelphia (PHL) beginning May 21, 2026. These new routes mark the carrier’s first-ever flights to the Hungarian capital and expand its reach into Central Europe. Both flights will operate daily with the Boeing 787-8.

The airline will also introduce daily seasonal service from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) to Athens (ATH) and Zurich (ZRH), using the Boeing 787-8 and 777-200, respectively. In South America, service from DFW to Buenos Aires (EZE) will be extended through the peak summer months from May 21 to August 3, 2026.

Meanwhile, Miami (MIA) will gain a new year-round daily flight to Milan (MXP) starting March 29, 2026, further reinforcing American’s leadership at the MIA hub.

Focus on Central Europe

The debut of routes to Budapest and Prague reflects growing demand for cultural and leisure travel in Central Europe.

Philadelphia, a major transatlantic hub for American travelers, will have nonstop access to both cities, which offer a mix of historic architecture, riverside views, and thermal baths.

PHL will serve 20 transatlantic destinations in summer 2026. American is also positioning these new routes as an ideal pairing: travelers can fly into one city and return from the other for a multi-stop itinerary.

Newly renovated Flagship® Lounge and Admirals Club® Lounge options at PHL provide travelers with upgraded amenities, including premium food, drinks, and panoramic views.

Expanding to Southern Europe

Daily flights from DFW to Athens will mark the fifth U.S. city offering nonstop American Airlines service to the Greek capital. This expansion positions American as the airline with the most U.S. nonstop connections to Greece.

The new Miami to Milan route will fill a gap in connectivity between two style-forward cities, building on American’s current flights to Rome (FCO). This addition also supports continued growth at MIA, where American remains the largest carrier.

Together, these expansions will bring American’s total daily flights from the U.S. to Italy and Greece to a record 18 for summer 2026.

Special Flights for Sports Fans

To support global sporting events in 2026, American will offer limited-time summer service from DFW to Zurich (ZRH) and increased frequencies from DFW and MIA to Buenos Aires (EZE).

Flights between ZRH and DFW will operate seasonally from May 21 through August 4, providing the only nonstop service between the two cities. Service to EZE from both hubs will ramp up, including up to three daily flights from Miami during the summer peak.

More Premium Capacity to Tokyo

American is also boosting service to Tokyo Haneda (HND). Starting March 29, 2026, DFW will operate daily 777-300ER flights, while Los Angeles (LAX) will increase to twice-daily 777-200 flights.

Compared to summer 2025, the airline will grow premium cabin seating to Tokyo by over 45%, enhancing comfort and amenities.

All long-haul widebody flights to Asia will offer premium Business amenities, including pajamas, mattress pads, multicourse meals, and award-winning wine selections.
