NEW YORK- American Express (AMEX) has confirmed it will remove Avis President’s Club status from the Platinum Charge Card’s list of travel perks, effective 1 November 2025. Avis members who currently enjoy this elite status through the card will keep their benefits until the end of 2026.
The decision marks another adjustment to The Platinum Card’s portfolio of privileges. Cardholders who have not yet registered for the Avis President’s Club membership still have until 31 October 2025 to enrol and lock in their status.

Introduced in 2022, the Avis President’s Club membership was one of the valuable travel benefits bundled with the AMEX Platinum Charge.
Like other elite statuses tied to the card, such as Hilton Honors Gold and Marriott Bonvoy Gold, it provided automatic recognition without annual requalification. Members enjoyed priority service, better access to rental cars, and complimentary upgrades.
From 1 November 2025, enrolments for Avis President’s Club via AMEX Platinum will close. However, existing members will retain their benefits until 31 December 2026.
After that date, renewal will depend on meeting Avis’ standard criteria: either completing at least 10 rentals per membership year or spending a minimum of €2,000 annually.

Platinum Charge cardholders who wish to lock in their Avis President’s Club status should register by 31 October 2025.
Enrolment can be completed using the code Platinum, and processing usually takes 6-8 weeks. This benefit applies to both principal and supplementary cardholders.

While marketed as an exclusive tier, availability varies by location, and recognition can be inconsistent compared to competitors like Hertz or National.
Alternative Paths to Avis President’s Club Status
Even after AMEX Platinum removes this benefit, travellers have other ways to access Avis President’s Club:
- Solitaire PPS Club and PPS Club: Eligible members can enrol using dedicated codes to unlock President’s Club benefits.
- Visa Signature and Visa Infinite: Cardholders can gain instant access by using codes linked to their Visa status. Many Visa Signature cards have accessible income requirements, making this a practical route.
