HOUSTON– Avelo Airlines (XP) has placed a firm order for 50 Embraer (ERJ) E195-E2 aircraft, with purchase rights for 50 more. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027, supporting the airline’s plan to expand affordable and convenient travel across the United States.

This order, valued at US$4.4 billion at list prices excluding purchase rights, marks Avelo as the first U.S. carrier to operate the E195-E2. The aircraft will join its existing fleet of Boeing 737NGs, bringing efficiency and network flexibility.

Avelo Orders Embraer E195-E2

The Embraer E195-E2 is the largest and most advanced jet in Embraer’s commercial lineup. By adding this aircraft, Avelo strengthens its growth strategy while giving Embraer a key entry point into the U.S. market.

The E2’s standout feature is its Enhanced Takeoff System (E2TS), a proprietary technology that boosts short-field performance. This capability opens opportunities for Avelo to serve airports with shorter runways and improve operations at many of its current destinations.

Combined with the E2’s long range, fuel efficiency, and reduced noise footprint, the aircraft is designed to expand Avelo’s reach across both established and emerging markets.

Fleet Growth and Customer Experience

The E195-E2 will modernize Avelo’s fleet, offering a balance between capacity and economics. Seating comes in a 2×2 layout with no middle seats, larger overhead bins, in-seat power, and a quieter cabin environment.

These passenger-focused features align with Avelo’s promise of affordable fares paired with a comfortable travel experience.

For the airline, the aircraft brings strong economics through lower fuel burn, optimized maintenance, and right-sized capacity to match demand in underserved markets. This combination positions Avelo to scale its network efficiently while keeping costs competitive.

Executive Remarks

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy highlighted the strategic fit of the new jets, noting that the E2’s size and performance make it ideal for U.S. market growth.

He emphasized that customers will appreciate both the comfort and the value the aircraft brings to Avelo’s expanding network.

Embraer Commercial Aviation President and CEO Arjan Meijer called the E195-E2 a “game-changer,” underscoring its fuel efficiency, quiet operations, and short-field capability.

He noted that Avelo’s decision to integrate the aircraft reflects confidence in the E2 program and its ability to unlock new opportunities.
