Turkish Airlines 75 787 Dreamliners

Boeing gains a pivotal order from Turkish Airlines (TK), marking the flag carrier’s biggest widebody purchase at up to 75 787 Dreamliners. The firm commitment covers 50 aircraft, 35 of the 787-9 variant and 15 of the stretched 787-10, plus options for 25 more.

Deliveries start between 2029 and 2034, enabling Turkish Airlines to phase out older jets and achieve an all-new generation fleet by 2035.

This deal sustains over 123,000 US jobs, from manufacturing to supply chains. Turkish Airlines (TK) operates across 200+ Boeing aircraft today, including 787-9s, 777s, 737 MAX, Next-Generation 737s, and 777 Freighters.

The addition positions the airline to serve more routes with lower fuel burn, targeting high-demand paths from Istanbul Airport (IST) to US cities like New York (JFK), African hubs such as Johannesburg (JNB), Southeast Asian spots like Bangkok (BKK), and Middle Eastern gateways including Dubai (DXB).

Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee at Turkish Airlines (TK), highlights the order’s role beyond growth. It advances innovation and operational excellence, directly fueling the 2033 Vision for an 800 aircraft fleet.

The 787-10 variant adds passenger and cargo space, cutting emissions by 25% per seat versus prior models. Features like the largest windows in any widebody, humidity-controlled cabins at 6,000-foot altitude, and turbulence-dampening tech ensure smoother flights for passengers.

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, praises the partnership. Turkish Airlines (TK) joins over 100 operators flying the 787 family, which logs 500,000 daily passengers and links more countries than any widebody fleet.

Boeing’s 80-year ties with Türkiye include $2 billion in local investments, generating 5,000 jobs and integrating Turkish firms into global supply chains.

Narrowbody Fleet Renewal

Turkish Airlines (TK) finalizes intent for up to 150 737 MAX aircraft, 100 firm orders for 737-8 and 737-10 models, with 50 options, pending engine talks with CFM International. This becomes the airline’s largest single-aisle Boeing order upon signing, doubling its current 200 jet Boeing fleet.

The 737 MAX lineup offers 20% better fuel efficiency than predecessors, ideal for dense regional routes from Istanbul Airport (IST) to European centers like London (LHR) and domestic Turkish points.

Combined with the 787 order, these jets support 6% annual growth, expanding reach to 130+ countries where Turkish Airlines already leads in destination count.
