LOS ANGELES- Fort Worth-based American Airlines (AA) flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Mexico City (MEX) made a u-turn on June 13, 2025.

American Airlines operates a single daily flight between the Entertainment Capital of the World, Los Angeles, and the City of Palaces, Mexico City.

American Airlines Flight U-Turn to LAX

According to FlightRadar24 data, American Airlines flight AA2546 took off from Los Angeles at 16:33 UTC.

Around 15 minutes later, the crew stopped its climb at 26,475 feet and alerted the Los Angeles Air Traffic Control about issues related to a window seal leak.

Following this, the American pilots made a U-turn at Los Angeles, without burning the fuel. The flight made a heavy landing at LAX at 5:20 UTC (10:20 PM local time).

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been aware of the incident and shared the details on its Aviation Accidents and Incidents:

American Airlines Flight 2546 safely returned to Los Angeles International Airport around 10:20 a.m. local time on Friday, June 13, after the crew reported a window seal leak. The Boeing 737-800 was traveling to Mexico City, Mexico. The FAA will investigate.

The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 737-800, registered as N910AN. Further, it is a 26.1-year-old aircraft powered by two CFM56-7B24 engines. It is one of the oldest aircraft in the AA fleet.

The aircraft is still on the ground at Los Angeles Airport at the time of publication of this post.
